Upcoming Birthday

My birthday is coming up. I will be 60 on March 25th.

It's interesting - i can talk about how things were 40 years ago...I remember when bagels were a nickel...before there were color TVs....when we had to walk to school in the snow for miles, uphill both ways (ok, so 2 out of 3 are true) :)

Maybe someone will bring a camera to take pictures (hint, hint!)

Jody's hernia surgery

Jody's hernia surgery went well.

The doctor explained that often times, the incision made for a feeding tube does not heal properly - and in Jody's case, that definitely happened.

When Jody was in the hospital last year, she definitely lost weight. How much weight, we will never know for sure. The hospital beds that she was in fluctuated a lot in what they showed, but we came up with a figure of about 25 lbs from the time she got sick in October, 2008 until after her spinal surgery in May, 2009.

She is supposed to rest for 2-4 weeks but you can't keep Jody in bed...and she kept her hairdresser appointment this week. The straight hair in a ponytail look is gone and curls are in...for now!

Bud Light commercials

Jody and I have never been TV watchers. So a lot of interesting concepts and phrases that have made their way into American life...well, we've missed a lot of those.

Lately, though, we have started watching NFL football on television. It helps take my mind off work and gives her a chance to knit.

So if you're watching football on television, it's hard to miss the Bud Light commercials. You can even Google Bud Light Commercials Too Light Too Heavy and get 122,000 results.

We mute all of the commercials so they are wasted on us. But Jody has taken to calling out "Too Stupid" after the screen shots of "Too Light" and "Too Heavy."

Why ARE commercials so stupid, anyway?

Jody's surgery

Jody's hernia surgery is this coming Thursday, January 28th...i will keep everyone posted. We met with the doctor last week and all seems good.

Update on Jody

Jody has made such incredible progress in the last year, I guess we were do for a small setback.

She has a hernia. We noticed it a week ago, right after our trip to Pa to see her Mom.

We are seeing the surgeon on Thursday to make an appointment for surgery.
